I'll use this to hopefully learn some new things, share what I already know and hopefully help to keep history alive.
Starting today - 21st January 1793 - On this date, 229 years ago, King Louis XVI of France was executed for High Treason by the New French Parliament - this all took plate as part of the French Revolution between 5th May 1789 and 9th November 1799.

One thing I did learn about the French Revolution was that the enemies of France at the time, namely Britain, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland (and probably others) were industrially forging the banknotes at the time (known as Assignats). These efforts were to make break the currency's effectiveness to help sway the tide of war.
